Are You A Bookish Goofy Doofus?

What a goofy doofus. I walked all the way from the car to the door of Walmart carrying my newly checked out library books! Thank goodness I realized in the nick of time--- the greeter would have tried to stick stickers all over them!

That was a first. My usual bookish doof is attempting to pay at a store with my library card rather than with my credit card.

Please say I'm not the only one. What bookish doofs have you committed?

By the way, my new library books are The Lightning Thief and Stolen. I hadn't heard of Stolen by Vivian Vande Velda but the synopsis sounds promising: a childstealing witch is hunted down then a mysterious girl with no memory appears in the woods. Have you read this one or any other books by this author?

  1. Oooh, I can't wait to hear what you think of Stolen. I actually have read one other book by VVV and you can read about it here:

It was pretty good! I bet you will enjoy the one you found.

I have also read The Lightning Thief. Percy won't be the next Harry Potter, but it was fun enough. I blogged about it too, but I don't want to color your opinion before you read. :)

  3. @Rhonda--- Tell it! Tell it! We like funny here at Mrs. BG and we have no shame-- well, I don't. Hey, if I can share my dufus stuff, you can too! ;o)

@Kathy--- Thanks for your great link-- I left comments on your blog and I like the eclectic mix of your reviews-- Where do I follow?

I saw the movie of Percy so don't worry about spoiling it-- I know the book will be good-- Jillan (Random Ramblings) raves about the entire series.

I'll let you know what I think about Stolen--- may take awhile-- I was sidetracked from 'Gone' by Catcher in the Rye--- I am back on Gone and read a bit of Percy on the way home-- I may lose my bookloving mind!!!

  4. I have plenty of Goofy Dofus moments, but none involving books. In fact, my friend at the desk next to me has set up an 'Early Onset Alzheimer' chart where we earn a tick each time we do something goofy. So far I am winning/ loosing, but I think she has double standards when it comes to her Goofy moments and everyone else!

I will document any book goofs.

  5. Listen, I read poems at red lights, and I've been known to whip a poem out of my wallet in line at the grocery store. I read while walking the dogs. My husband's barber said: Your wife is a very unusual woman -- whenever I see her she has a book!

  9. I took some books back to the library, only to be told "these are not our books". Turns out I picked up the wrong stack!
Another time I was reading while waiting for my tires to be rotated. I was given some odd looks. An elderly lady gave me a grandmotherly smile. I could not figure out what was going on, until I looked down at my book. I was reading a childrens book. It was given to me to review and I thought the shop would be a good place to read it. I was viewed as strange (or simple) for doing so.
